Pulse Oximetry screening for all newborns in the UK

This petition calls upon the Government to roll out Pulse Oximetry screening for all newborn babies in the UK.

The test is simple, quick, painless and cheap taking just a few minutes alongside other existing newborn checks. Research shows that the test will significantly improve the detection of congenital heart conditions in babies, which are the most common birth defect, picking up three quarters of heart conditions.

Early detection of CHD is essential to reduce distress, prevent further physical damage to children and to help save lives.
