Minimum turnout in an Election for public offtce

That at least 50% of the electorate must vote in an election for that election to to classed as valid

Like other people I am tried of hearing of MPs that are elected with just 10 or 20 % of the electorate. Ofter the turnout in these cases is less than 50%.
