Culture Secretary: No more restrictions on internet porn
Responsible department: Department for Culture, Media and Sport
Those who seek to outlaw rape porn and other "extreme" porn genres are missing the point that the scenarios being depicted are ACTED OUT - NOT REAL.
It is wrong to insult the intelligence of all adults by claiming (in so many words) that exposure to a particular image is "guaranteed" to trigger destructive/violent behavior in previously "sane / law abiding people" - because that is non-scientific superstitious nonsense.
It is wrong to seek to impose unacceptable limitations on freedom of expression.
A legal system that does not distinguish fact from fiction, and which assumes everyone else is incapable of doing so, has no place in a civilised society.
